Holy Cross Roman Catholic Church

The Roman Catholic parish of the “Holy Cross” on Șoseaua Mihai Bravu originated in a chapel built in 1932–1933 by the Mekhitarist priest Clemens Koren for the small community of Armenian Catholics, some 40 families; the building now serves as the parish house. After the priest's arrest and the dispersal of the community through emigration, the chapel passed in 1956 into the care of the Roman Catholic Archdiocese, as a branch of the Bărăția and later the Cioplea parishes. In 1987 Bishop Ioan Robu raised it to the rank of parish. Services are held here in both the Latin and the Byzantine rites.
