Schitul Maicilor Church
Schitul Maicilor Church, dedicated to the Annunciation, was built in 1726 through the efforts of Tatiana Hagi Dina, who had been a slave of the Turks and, once freed, wished to give thanks to God; she later became a nun. It is a small Brâncovenesc-style church, with an open porch on slender stone columns with spiral fluting, and decorated facades. The ensemble, with its cells and the workshops of the Biblical Institute, was demolished in 1982 for the House of the People, and the church was moved on rollers to its current site on Antim Ivireanul Street. Closed by the regime shortly after the move, it reopened in 1996.
