Sfânta Vineri-Herasca Church

Sfânta Vineri Church, dedicated to St. Paraskeva and dated 1645, was a foundation linked to the boyar family of the Herești, hence its nickname Herasca. It was surrounded by a monastery, within whose precinct an asylum for the elderly and the mentally ill opened at the beginning of the 18th century; the church kept an icon of St. Paraskeva painted in Vienna in 1748. Although it had been restored only a few years earlier, it was demolished in June 1987, and an apartment block was built on its site. Through the efforts of the parish priest Gheorghe Bogdan, many of the liturgical objects were saved, at Cernica Monastery and at the museum in Herești.
