Dobroteasa Church
According to Nicolae Iorga, the name Dobroteasa might come either from an old Slavonic term for the Mother of God or from the wife of a certain Dobrotă. On the site of a small wooden church, the treasurer Constantin Năsturel built a masonry church here in 1730; it was rebuilt after the 1838 earthquake and torn down by order of the authorities after 1884, by which time it had fallen into ruin. The present church, dedicated to the Annunciation, was built in 1887–1892 and painted by Gheorghe Ioanid. Closed in the 1980s and slated for demolition, it was spared after 1989 and reopened in 1991.
