Water mill
Foișor Mills
Water mills on the Dâmbovița, marked on an old map of Bucharest in the southeast of the city, near the Foișor neighborhood, home to Foișor Church, from which they probably take their name. Such mills, owned by the princely court, by monasteries or by boyars, narrowed the riverbed and increased the risk of flooding; after 1850 they were gradually replaced by steam mills and disappeared from the city.
