Cărămidarii de Jos Church
The church on Piscului Street, dedicated to Saints Tryphon, George and Demetrius, began in 1711 as a small wooden church, which was later moved elsewhere. In 1856 a larger brick church was built here; it deteriorated for lack of money until the 1912 renovation, led by the priest Gheorghe Păunescu. After the roof caught fire on 22 May 1922, the church was rebuilt following the old model. In 1927–1930 a “cultural Athenaeum” was built next to it, which still exists today.
