Statue of Theodor Pallady
The bronze statue of the painter Theodor Pallady (1871–1956), the work of the sculptor Gheorghe D. Anghel, stands in the courtyard of the Melik House on Spătarului Street, which today houses the Pallady Museum. The house, built in 1760, is considered the oldest civil building in Bucharest preserved in its original form. Born in Iași into a family of Moldavian boyars, Pallady lived and painted in France for a long time; his well-known paintings include “Pont Neuf” and “Still Life with Lemons”.
