Dimitrie Sturdza House

The house at 13–15 Pictor Arthur Verona Street, near Magheru Boulevard, belonged to Dimitrie Sturdza (1833–1914), historian, economist, member of the Romanian Academy and Prime Minister of Romania. Its plan, with a central hall and symmetrically arranged rooms, is typical of wealthy homes from the mid-19th century; the interior retains Neo-Renaissance and Neoclassical ornaments, painted double doors and white masonry stoves. Since 2003 the building has housed the Cărturești Verona bookshop, which won an award at the London Book Fair in 2021.
