Eșua Tova Synagogue

The Eșua Tova Synagogue (“of Good Salvation”), on Take Ionescu Street near Piața Amzei, was built in 1840 in the Moorish style and is considered the oldest synagogue in Bucharest. It is also known as the Podul Mogoșoaiei Synagogue, after the old name of Calea Victoriei. Since 1999 it has operated under the auspices of the Hasidic Chabad movement, which has built around it a community with a kindergarten, a school and a kosher restaurant. Renovated, it was rededicated in February 2007 in the presence of the Chief Rabbi of Israel, Shlomo Amar.
