Mița Biciclista House
The house at the corner of Biserica Amzei and Christian Tell streets, built around 1900 to plans by the architect N. C. Mihăescu, is a Beaux-Arts building with Art Nouveau influences, whose façades are laden with ornaments: balconies, cherubs, lions and cupids in relief. Its name comes from its owner, Maria Mihăescu, nicknamed Mița Biciclista (“Mița the Cyclist”), who is said to have been the first woman in Bucharest to ride a bicycle and who was known for her extravagant lifestyle. Also known as the Teodorescu House, it was consolidated and renovated in 2022, when it reopened to the public.
