Water mill
Cotroceni Monastery Mill
Old plans of Bucharest mark here, on the Dâmbovița, north of Cotroceni hill, the mill of Cotroceni Monastery, founded by Șerban Cantacuzino. Monasteries were among the wealthiest owners of water mills on the Dâmbovița – besides Cotroceni, Radu Vodă, Mihai Vodă, St. Sava and Văcărești are mentioned – and the mills brought them significant income, although the river's floods often put them at risk.
