Holy Archangels Church (Grivița)

On this site on Calea Griviței, Mihalcea Băcanul built a first, small church in the mid-18th century, replaced in 1817 by a cross-shaped masonry church surrounded, like a small monastery, by houses, shops, a bell tower and a well-known school. Having fallen into serious disrepair, the church was rebuilt, and the new building, completed in 1903, follows the model of the Curtea de Argeș monastery church, with a central tower and two towers over the pronaos. The murals are the work of the priest Vasile Damian. The damage from the two world wars and the 1940 earthquake was repaired in 1962.
