Miclescu House

The Miclescu House, on Șoseaua Kiseleff, has elements reminiscent of the Brâncovenesc style; it was begun in 1900 by the painter G. D. Mirea and completed after 1904 by the lawyer Jean Miclescu, who bought it. In the interwar period it hosted balls and gatherings of the aristocracy, and in 1948 it was nationalized and divided into apartments for artists. The owner's son, Colonel Radu Miclescu, lived for almost 40 years, as a tenant, in a basement bathroom. The house was the setting for the Giurgiuveanu house in the film “Felix and Otilia”.
