Agricola-Fonciera Palace

The palace of the Agricola-Fonciera company occupies the corner of Calea Victoriei and Splaiul Independenței, at Piața Națiunile Unite, with two symmetrical wings along the two thoroughfares and its main entrance on the corner. The building has a ground floor and eight upper floors, and above the top level a terrace which, on the side facing the Dâmbovița embankment, suggests a pergola. The façades mark the transition, in the French manner, from Art Nouveau to Art Deco. According to some sources, it was built around 1926 to plans by the architects Paul Smărăndescu and Petre Antonescu.
