Sector 1 City Hall
The Sector 1 City Hall, on Banul Manta Boulevard, was built in the interwar period as the city hall of the Green Sector, one of the four sectors into which Bucharest was then divided. The project brought together two architects with different visions: Nicu Georgescu, who leaned toward Art Deco, and George Cristinel, designer of the Mărășești Mausoleum and of the Orthodox Cathedral in Cluj. The Neo-Romanian building still dominates its surroundings today, encircled by apartment blocks built in the 1980s.
