Slobozia Church
Slobozia Church was built between 1664 and 1667 by Prince Radu Leon, next to the stone cross that his father, Leon Tomșa, had raised in 1632 to commemorate the 1631 victory over the boyars led by Aga Matei, the future Matei Basarab. Soldiers from both sides were buried in the cross's mound. In 1743 the treasurer Constantin Năsturel rebuilt the church and enlarged it on a trefoil plan. Alterations in the 19th–20th centuries gave it a classicizing look, and the murals were heavily redone around the time of the 1848 Revolution. The cross and the battle site are also historic monuments.
