Solacolu Inn

Although it bears the name of an inn, the building on Calea Moșilor was actually a pasta factory, built in 1859 by the Solacoglu brothers, merchants who had come from Svishtov, in Bulgaria. Its architecture combines the traditional forms of inns with a few Western elements. Lyuben Karavelov, one of the leaders of the Bulgarian revolutionaries in exile, lived here on the eve of the 1877–1878 war, a fact commemorated by a plaque put up by the Bulgarian embassy. After decades of decay, the building was returned to the descendants in 2003, and in 2022 the City Hall began a technical assessment with a view to its restoration.
